The cookie cutter development model..
Not really cutting it. Part 1 of 2
I have been watching 100’s of folks post the following comments ( see collage below). This actually is a small-sampling of the screen shots I have been taking in the last few weeks/ months. First off, we are way too crowded already, and our infrastructure and roads, schools are not equipped to handle what we already have. But there is a bigger issue evident. Every day I see people asking on social media. We want people to live here, enroll their kids in our schools, shop at our stores, dine in our towns, go to our churches, work in our towns—-but how can they if we are missing an entire demographic? And by reading some of the comments below you can see people do want to live here. They really want to live here. I’ve blocked out the names for privacy. But we sure have a problem that no one is discussing. Any ideas why?
We have a problem we are ignoring. Nearby towns like Concord, and larger cities/counties ( Mecklenburg) are already working on solutions. Not that one-size fits all, but the point is, other NC municipalities are already working on this. And other cities like Raleigh are experiencing it also. We could be using valuable time now ( we are late to the party) to establish agencies/committees to address this as is now as a problem already. I know we want controlled “Growth”, but we are way off when every day people are asking for affordable places to live, and I hear from residents they want to live here, but they can’t. Stay tuned for some solutions. This is why we need fresh voices at the table!
